C-EPRI will demonstrate its latest HVDC technology and products, and offer visitors a glimpse of future developments of power grids, thanks to an exciting exhibition scheduled to open on 14 April 2014 in Chicago.Beijing, China, February 28th, 2014 – A scientific and technology program named “Research of Key Technologies Related With Modular Multi-level Converter based HVDC Flexible System, and Equipment Manufacturing & Application” was awarded the first prize of 2013 China Electric Power Science and Technology Award. The program was undertaken by C-EPRI Electric Power Engineering Co., Ltd. that is 100% owned by State Grid Smart Grid Research Institute (SGRI).
The program was sponsored by both Ministry of Science and Technology of China and State Grid Corporation of China, and was within the list of their most important programs. Over 9-year of independent innovation, the research team has successively accomplished fundamental research, key technology research, testing capability construction as well as development and manufacture of a complete set of equipment, which has engendered a completely new HVDC Flexible technology.
Background: China Electric Power Science and Technology Award is one of the 26 social awards approved after the reform of national scientific and technological awards in 2001. The authorization body includes 15 work units such as Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering (CSEE), State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC), China Southern Power Grid, China Huaneng Group, China Datang Corporation, China Huadian Corporation, China Guodian Corporation, and China Power Investment Corporation), CGN, Guohua Power, North United Power Corporation, China Hydropower Engineering Consulting Group Co.
